Has anyone used easy jet to get from Sicily to Naples. Seems the quickest but reviews a not always positive.
Hate to have to go to Rome and back to Naples to get to Sorrento.
Much appreciate any info

We've used them for several flights in Europe. The thing to understand is that they follow and will enforce each and every rule. That means the cutoff time to be at the gate, the size and weight of carry-on and checked luggage, etc. Read the rules they show you when you buy your ticket, follow them, you won't have a problem.
You'll find negative reviews of almost any route EasyJet flies and usually it's because people didn't read the rules. We used them from Barcelona to Lisbon and Porto to Bordeaux last Fall and I was very happy. Also very happy that I read the rules. Just be prepared for extra charges upfront. Our flight to Lisbon was €36 but we ended up paying about €130 after luggage fees and seat selection. Still a good deal. We watched one guy in Barcelona that was extremely upset because he was caught with an oversized suitcase. The EasyJet website gives you plenty of opportunity to understand the restrictions but people still try to cheat the rules and then have a fit when they get called on it. During check-in we watched almost everyone being made to put their suitcase in the sizer and then at the gate they were checked again.
We, like John, have used EasyJet, and John is spot on! Follow their rules and you'll have no problems.
You must follow the luggage rules exactly and also book and pay luggage on line to avoid last minute high prices. And be aware that if you are hauling lots of luggage the flight becomes not much of a bargain. Also they close check in about 40 minutes before the flight so don't cut it too fine. We have used both Easyjet and Vueling which are two major budget airlines and found both to be fine -- but you have to pay attention to the rules. And also give yourself ample time for lines and such for check in.
The vast majority of people who complain about EasyJet are of the “I am entitled to take this refrigerator on as hand luggage and the t&cs I agreed to do not apply to me” variety. Follow the rules and all will be well.
Yes easyJet are fine. No frills. It’s not a luxury experience in any way but they do a job. I never pay extra for speedy boarding as find it pointless and depending on your feelings you may wish to pay to guarantee you sit together but it’s not mandatory to pay for a seat. You do need to pay for all luggage bar a small underseat bag which is included. Anything larger incurs a charge.
I have flown easyJet literally hundreds of times and in my opinion they are by far the best low-cost carrier. As others here have said, just make sure you pay attention to the rules. And be aware that for any airline you are flying within Europe, if there are major delays you are entitled to compensation (and I can attest that getting the compensation is relatively quick and easy).
Flew Easyjet from Catania to Naples, very easy flight, no problemo. The Straight of Messina was fabulous from the air.
I have used Easy Jet a number of times and everything was fine. It's a " budget" airline and as others have pointed out means they usually are very strict with luggage and other rules. I have no problem with that as I always read the fine print.
One thing that did surprise me was on our flight from Venice to London last November. I and a couple of others arrived earlier than the stated 2 hours before flight time. They made us wait exactly to the 2 hour mark before allowing our bag drop even though nobody else was there and the 3 agents were standing around chatting away. Perhaps it is a Venice rule but nobody referenced that. It seemed a bit laughable. Still ,I will be flying with them from Crete to London this Spring.
Your experience is quite usual. At some airports EasyJet open baggage drop strictly 2 hours before the flight. If you arrive 2 hours before you can find that there is already a long queue of people waiting for it to open.
We flew from Palermo to Naples in June 2022 on EasyJet. When we booked (a couple of months in advance) we purposely upgraded as much as possible, fully flex, best seating (got us more carryon luggage), checked luggage, etc. I think the original ticket price was about 29euro, and by the time we added all the extras it was more than 100 euro each, but we were fine with that.
The flight itself was smooth and easy. After landing in Naples we followed the signs for the very reasonably priced shuttle bus to Naples central rail station, also easy.
I would definitely choose EasyJet again, and probably same with Ryanair, although I've never flown them, just paying for all the extras up front, so there's no surprises.
