Easy way to get around the Langhe area of Piedmont

We are 2 couples staying at an Agriturismo just outside of Barbaresco, 5/26-5/30. Is there an easy way of getting to the surrounding towns of Alba, Barolo, Nieve and La Morra without renting a car?
Also any restaurant recommendations are more than welcome.

I can’t imagine covering that area without having a car. We spent two weeks there exploring it in a rental car, one of our favorite trips. You would need to be hiring drivers at a much higher expense if you don’t get a rental car. So the easy way to get around the Lange area of Piedmont is by driving a car. When you see the word “Agriturismo” which suggests a countryside setting , you almost always need a car. With two couples splitting the cost, it won’t be too expensive. We rent cars on every trip we take to Europe.
The food in that area of Italy is outstanding too.

I agree with the first response, but if you are looking to do wine tastings, then I would contact the agriturismo to inquire about that, or I suppose you could all take turns driving.

We do a lot of hiking when in the Langhe and go from town to town through the marked trails that take you through the vineyards, Nieve to Barbaresco, Barolo to Monforte, La Morra to Verduno, but otherwise you need a car. The roads are small and a bit winding, but not difficult. Parking is generally easy except on the weekends and even then it is only difficult if there is a market or during mass. For restaurants we like the Antica Torre in Barbaresco, in La Morra casual dining, Le Vigne Bio and high end Belsit in Langa which is new. We love Nieve, but the restaurant scene changes frequently, Osteria Suta just opened and has good reviews so far; quiet, low key and good food is Ristorante Cantina del Rondo. In Alba Osteria del Vicoletto is very good. The whole area is relatively quiet in May, but still best to make reservations.

Thank you All for your replies. Looks like a car rental is the way to go. We most likely will train from Turin to Alba. I would think that securing a rental car in Alba is the way to go.
Thank you for the restaurant recommendations too, Food and wine is our focus along with soaking in Mother Nature's beauty.

We did a day trip with a wine guide, Evan Byrne, who was able to drive us so we could drink. We enjoyed his expertise so much, we have hired him to drive up to Verona and then drive us through the Valpollicella.
