Easter traditions in Florence or Tuscany area?

Planning to spend the week prior to/ up to Easter Sunday in Florence area and would like to know if anyone has been to the Passion plays in Grassina, or if anyone has suggestions on any of the small town processions or special activities there are to experience in the area. I have heard there are some musical processions and concerts that are local to certain towns, but not sure where would be good to go.

Thanks.

Maybe you will be happy to know that during Easter in Florence they have a strange tradition that has been going on for centuries. It's called something like the explosion of the charriot... It dates back to the Cruisade epoch... Really explosive, as it were. I have never heard of it before. Then I was looking for some holiday ideas for Easter and landed on this page https://www.hotelsclick.com/en/easter-deals.html where they mention the celebrations in Florence. I am not sure if there are similar events in the surrounding areas, but I guess small Italian villages and towns are very active on this regard.
I'm thinking of going there if I manage to persuade my husband.
