Easter Monday questions

Our itinerary has us leaving Rome for Florence early morning on Easter Monday. Will trains be running on the normal schedule that morning? Would we have better luck traveling from Rome late afternoon on Easter Sunday and arriving in Florence early evening? Any advice one way or the other? Yes, I know both cities will be extremely busy.

Thanks for your help!

Trains will be running on a Sunday/Holiday schedule, which for high speed trains basically means just as frequently as any day. Rome to Florence will have about 4 trains per hour, one every 10-20 min on average.

Thanks, Roberto. I appreciate the info. Any opinion on whether going to Florence on Easter Sunday evening would be better than Easter Monday morning? We have a Walks of Italy Colosseum tour scheduled Sunday morning and then are free the rest of Easter. Not sure if we want to try to find dinner in Rome or Florence.

I'm not sure if one will be better than the other, but I would buy your train tickets (if you are hoping to get the supereconomy ones) as soon as you decide. I had to travel to Rome on an Easter Monday morning once and the trains were PACKED. I was on an Intercity that was standing room only (which baffles me now, but I know its possible because I bought one of those tickets once for a different trip).
