Does anyone know if the Murano glass factories will be open on Easter Monday?
Thanks.

If you have not done the factory tour before, let me give you a bit of insight. The glassblowers blow a few small pieces of glass to show the croud. This show lasts about 15 minutes and then you are asked to look at the glass on various floors of the same building while a sales person follows you and tries to get you to buy anything!!! The glass is absolutely beautiful but the prices are outrageous!! It's a little uncomfortable as the sales people are on top of you the whole time. When you don't end up buying something, they kind of make you feel that you wasted their time. Anyway, if you have a limited amount of time in Venice I would suggest looking at all the Murano glass in the various stores in the city. You will spend too much time going to the island, the tour, browsing the store and getting a boat back to Venice. Anyway, have a great time as Venice is absolutely beautiful!!!!
Thanks. We are considering whether to go. (We can also go Tuesday morning). Also, can anyone suggest a furnace that did give a nice demonstration?
Aside from the glassblowing demonstations, there are dozens of shops along the Murano canals that are a treat to browse. We went on Sunday and the glassblowers were not working. The shops were all open. Walking up and down the canals and shop browsing was still great. However, we bought a few things in the shops but my wife's very nice Murano glass necklace came from a shop in San Marco and not Murano.
I can ditto what Mark said. Short, uninspired demonstration, followed by a pressure packed visit to the display cases full of very expensive glass!
