Easter Monday in Florence

We are spending a week in Florence beginning on 31 March which will be over Easter. Many museums are closed on Easter Monday and I'm looking for advice on what to do that day and what might be open. Our tentative agenda for the week is:

Saturday 31 March arrive mid-day and explore on our own or 3pm walking tour of Florence

Sunday 1 April Scoppio del Carro (before the Duomo) then Palazzo Vecchio. Dinner at Cinghiale Bianco

Monday 2 April Mercato Central THEN ???

Tuesday 3 April Bologna

Wednesday 4 April Uffizi then Duomo and Bar Vivoli Gelateria

Thursday 5 April Sienna

Friday 6 April Palazzo Pitti then if nice Boboli Gardens, if not Brancacci Chapel

Saturday 7 April leave for Milan

Don't assume Mercato Centrale will be open on Easter Monday. It is a big festive day.

We can always go the Mercato Central another day. Do you have any suggestions about what to do on Easter Monday? Also do you think Bologna and Sienna are good choices for day trips?

Easter Monday in Italy it is a big family day, traditionally devoted to countryside trips. I would not assume shops and museums to be open, maybe some could be. Churches will be open, and a trip up to Piazzale Michelangelo and San Miniato would be in the tradition.

Bologna and Siena are good day trips. I would like Lucca more than Bologna but this is a personal preference.

Lachera, thank you for your advice. I'm wondering why you think Lucca is a better choice than Bologna?

I like the ambience of Lucca more than Bologna. But it is a personal thing.
