Easter in Puglia?

Hello everyone!

We will be spending 3 weeks in Puglia again in April, and this will be a return visit.
Our home base this time will be halfway between Brindisi and Bari, arriving the day before Good Friday. We’ll have a car, and are pretty much ready and willing to drive in any direction…

Any suggestions for Easter celebrations, festas, processions, Easter dinner, fireworks, etc., that would be happening and that we could arrange to attend during that week-end?

We also intend to spend more time exploring old town Bari and Lecce after Easter this time.

We would welcome any suggestions for fantastic meals that you enjoyed, farm visits, small museums, archeological sites, old churches, etc. that we can add to our Puglia visit. Thanks!

Easter in Puglia is a big deal and there are all sort of ceremonies of different types in almost every community. They begin before you arrive and continue to Easter Sunday and some are fantastic display of religious and cultural expression. Getting information about them can be scattershot and some listings won't appear until a few weeks ahead so keep checking. The official tourist websites should have sections with information, sometimes listed under 'Settimana Santa'. This dedicated site has some events listed: https://www.settimanasantainpuglia.it/content/calendario.asp?lan=eng
FYI, the Monday after Easter (Pasquetta) is also a minor holiday and you may find some places closed and restaurants with limited menus.

Thank you so much - this is precisely the info that I’m seeking!

I had read that Pasquetta is when there may be fireworks in some communities.
