We will be in Florence over Easter weekend. Haven't really planned anything for Easter Sunday. Does anyone know if restaurants are open? Or any attractions, museums, etc.? Any suggestions for the day?
Go see the Scoppio del carro.
Yes restaurants are open.
A friend who's lived in Tuscany for years says that Easter is pretty much like a normal Sunday as far as restaurants etc. being open; it's just more festive than an ordinary Sunday. He says that Christmas, in contrast, is traditionally more of a family event where people don't go out (except to church) and don't invite friends.
Go to www.theflr.net/easter2018. The Florentine's Easter article covers events, special museum openings (some state museums are open both Easter and Easter Monday) and a few places to eat.
Make a reservation for lunch as it is a big deal on Easter and anywhere worth going will be busy.
We went to the Palazzo Pitti on Easter two years ago. Arrived at opening and it was not terribly crowded.
