Easter at Duomo in Florence

Hello, I’ve read about the Easter tradition at the Duomo in Florence. Does anyone know the exact route the cart will take? Or what time we should be there?

The cart arrives from the direction of Piazza della Repubblica. If you only want to see the cart pass by, find a position near there or along Via Roma. If you want to see the Scoppio del Carro and associated events in front of the Duomo, arrive by 9:30 to claim your spot. I arrived arould 10:00 last year and couldn't get closer than 10-15 people deep from the barricades. Expect that you won't be able to leave your position and return once the crowd starts to fill in, so plan accordingly. I believe the "fireworks" start around 11:00, but there are historic guard units and other activities that preceed the arrival of the cart, which takes a good half hour to set up. Also, the Cardinal circles Piazza del Duomo and blesses the crowd prior to the "dove" flying out to ignite the cart.

Did you go to the Scoppio? What did you think?
