Seeking recommendations for easiest train route from Florence on Wed. May 17 (Firenze SM Novella or Campo Di Marte) to near the Rome airport. If we have to stop at Roma Termini, that's fine. Our flight is the following day so am not rushing to catch a flight. Thank you!
I don't quite understand "near the Rome airport". The train from Termini goes TO Rome airport. Even the two direct trains from Florence to the Rome airport stop at Termini. Do you want to stay in Ostia?
My apologies. I do want to the destination to be Roma Termini.
I would simply log into Trenitalia and Italo and look at options. There should be multiple high-speed trains a day on that route. Just spot-checking, there are multiple high-speed trains a day, Looks like 1 hour 37 minutes on a Frecciarossa 1000. Similar for Italo.
There are high speed trains from Florence S.M.N. virtually every 30 minutes to Rome Termini. There are even 2 different train companies operating them. Trenitalia and Italotreno. Takes about 95 minutes.
Your original post said you wanted a location near the airport. Assuming this is for an early morning flight? Then take an evening train from Florence to Rome Termini, then the train from Termini to FCO. There is the Hilton Rome Airport that is directly connected by covered walkway to terminals 1 and 3.
