earphones wired vs wireless

Received an email yesterday from the company about recommended ear phones for tour narration. The email suggested wired and I was wondered is this needful or will the wireless work. I understand I may not know everything about the tech so I am looking for some education. Thanks...

Is the tour provider giving you some sort of audio device through which narration will be provided? If so, you'll be able to plug wired headphones into the device easier. Wireless headphones are almost certainly going to be bluetooth, which are more complicated to connect to another new device. (What's easier than plugging wired headphones into a device?)

But if you are somehow going to be using your own phone or tablet for the narration? Then you can use any type of headphones you want that you normally connect to your device.

All the whispersets I’ve used on Rick Steves and Road Scholar tours have been capable of wired headphones only. None accommodated wireless. This was true up thru the Fall 2021 Road Scholar tour.

The connection port was the older round plug so you might need an adapter if you have newer headphones with a lightning or small rectangular fitting.

on a boat tour in Strausbourg, we were given wired earbuds because then everyone could select their preferred language. As we left the boat we threw them into a basket to be "recycled," which I hope was true. Just to be sure, why not buy some and bring them? They only cost about $5. We were also given some for free on Delta.
