Early Rome departure

Leaving Rome on a 6:45a Lufthansa flight to Frankfurt on a Sunday. Best way/options to get to FCO at the proper time?

Reserve a private Taxi through your hotel 36-48 hour in advance. Nice thing the traffic won't be so bad!

I would agree with Rose. Even the earliest train or bus would only get you there a little before 6:00. Bad news is for off hours taxi, you are probably looking at 50 to 80 Euro. Good news, crowds should be light, check-in quick.

Thanks for your input. What time would you suggest I get to the airport for that flight?

Leave at least 1:30-2 hours. Once you check in, you will go through security and then take a the rail to the gate. Traffic on the road and the airport shouldn't be bad at all. Things really start to pick-up around 8am. Happy travels!

The last time we had a flight out at 7:00 AM we left our hotel between 4:45 and 5:00 AM...got to the Airport around 5:30 or shortly thereafter...and had to wait as none of the ticket lines were open at that hour...(there was coffee however). They finally opened the line at 6:05 or later...(no one seemed to be worried or in a hurry)...we finally got our boarding pass...cleared security and arrived at the gate at about 6:40 AM, and guess what, they didn't start boarding for another 5 minutes.

Theresa,
We are leaving on the same 6:45 am flight and I was wondering the same thing. Apparently, there are some shuttle buses that are cheaper than taking a taxi...here is one of the links that I found:
http://www.rome-airport-shuttle.com

My only outstanding question is what time should I have the shuttle pick us up. I do not want to be waiting aimlessly at the airport if all the checkout counters are closed...then again, I was told to be at the airport about 2 hours early (which means that I would have to be at the airport at 4:45 am!). Let me know what time you think is adequate.

My hotel recommended a shuttle and they set it up for me. It cost me 23 Euros. They picked me up at 4am. I don't even remember the name of the company since the front desk took care of it for me.

I was on an early Lufthansa flight, or so I thought. When I got to the airport it was on Air One to Milan and then on to Frankfurt. I knew I was going to Milan but, I didn't know it was on a different airlines. So, once I got to the airport I had to walk back to the other terminal. I will always make sure to double check all the info on the flights.
