The two of us have an early flight, departing at 9:00 am from Rome. We will be staying in a rental apartment by the Vatican. What is the best (time/cost) way to get to the airport at that hour, assuming we need to be there two hours prior to departure? Train, airport shuttle? Taxi or bus?

We just had the same problem and hired a taxi to take us. It was wonderful. Yes a little more expensive (50 euros verses 23 euros (11.50 ea. for Leonardo Express) but well worth it. We had our hotel arrange for the P/U and this way we knew we were dealing with someone we could trust.
