Early morning sites in Rome

Hello. Thanks in advance for any guidance. This place has always offered great advice.

Ahead of our Rome trip, can anyone offer guidance on sites that open early? We’re planning to pay up for the 7 AM Vatican tour.

But is there anything else that either opens early (Churches?) or offers the ability to pay up for early entry? Thanks!

Hey Kev,

The Pantheon opens at 8:30am. Perhaps you might want to visit it during that time. In addition, Capitoline Museums & the Capitoline Hill, Santuario della Scala Santa (Palace of the Holy Steps), and Basilica di San Giovanni in Laterano. Take a day trip to Ostia Antica if you get a chance, it is an archaeological park very similar to Pompeii full with roman monuments and crafts.

Geez Louise, simply take advantage of experiencing a world-class city coming to life in the morning. Take a walk along the Tiber, then find a caffe place or tabacchi shop where you can have a quick espresso, then hit a farmer's market as it's opening. Those are sites you'll remember when you get home!

Thank you RJean. Very good advice.

We’re not people to sleep in. We like to be out of the hotel by 7/7:30 when we travel. Beat the crowds and enjoy the city when it’s “quieter”

I am an early bird myself too Kev when it comes to sightseeing during my travels. I wish you a great time in Rome.

Buon Viaggio!

We woke up really early on our last day in Rome and walked to the Trevi Fountain and Spanish Steps. There was hardly anyone around except a couple taking wedding photos; it was so peaceful at an otherwise normally very crowded spot. I would highly recommend this experience!

Thank you both.

We started getting out early when in Paris. We found that the bakeries were all locals at that hour. The churches (if anyone was inside) were locals as well. Just found that it was a more authentic feel. Much more enjoyable I’m sure than doing the Trevi Fountain at 7 pm with the drunks :)
