Early morning flight Rome to Frankfurt

Wednesday Oct 24 we depart Rome on Lufthansa 07:00 to Frankfurt. Short layover then from there to Seattle. How early do we need to arrive at FCO terminal 3 with carry on bags. We are staying at Hotel Aberdeen 6 nights and will have arranged car to airport.

90 min prior to departure will be more than adequate.
The car ride to the airport at that time of the morning is approximately 35 min.

It is consider a domestic flight so 90 minutes to 2 hours is more than adequate.

Really only 90 mins, phew, that’s a relief. I had seen 3hrs ahead of flight and that gives me an instant headache. I will figure in the 35 min car ride and allow for unforeseen traffic or delays and leave the hotel at about 04:15. Should be interesting to drive through a sleeping Rome.

That's all right. You'll make up for it when getting through the rest in Frankfurt.

If it was an international flight directly back to the US, then the three hours kicks in because of an extended check-in and security screening but this is only a domestic (local) flight so it is a regular check-in and screening.

Your short layover could make your stop in Frankfurt quite rushed. That is the flight you will have the extra security points for.
The first flight from Rome will be easy, same as a US domestic flight.
