Early morning flight out of Catania at 6am and looking for advice

I have a six in the morning flight out of Catania with a connection in Munich. For anyone who has flown out of Catania that early, how easy is it to get an Uber or taxi at that time? Trying to figure out what time we should arrive and what the airport experience is like that early. Any advice would help.

I took the Lufthansa flight Catania to Munich last year. The airport is fairly small and quiet at that time. I'd get there 90 minutes in advance; not necessary to arrive before then.

If you are staying in a hotel, I would definitely ask them to request a taxi the night before. Otherwise, if you can't request in advance, make sure you know where the taxi rank it located and have one of your party go there early, get in the taxi, and circle back to your hotel where the others would be waiting with all the bags. Much booking in advance would be less anxiety producing at that early hour.

Is there not a later flight from Catania to Munich?

Unfortunately no. Our final destination is Los Angeles, so the six in the morning option is the only routing that lines up. There is a later one through Frankfurt, but the layover is only one hour and forty minutes and that feels too tight since we will have to go through passport control.

We had a lot of people on a 6am flight when our tour ended in Catania last week. Our guide set up taxis for us - your hotel could as well. The airport is under 15 minutes from the historical center. The 6am people were picked up at 4am. I was not on a 6am flight so can't comment on the airport at that hour.

I was there at 3pm though and it was an easy airport. Liquids and electronics stayed in at security - and we didn't wait at all at security - there was no line.

SoCal: I've had so many connections with 90 minutes or even less during the past few years. Every single one worked out fine. I know that this does not mean that yours will, but with that amount of time, I'd definitely take the Frankfurt connection, rather than have to get up at 3:30am. I imagine that you would make that connection easily.

I had a 50minute connection time in MAD last year--that's so tight that it was almost unbelievable that the airline (Iberia) ticketed me on this route. Talk about being nervous, especially in that huge airport!!!!

I hear you. We did a three thirty wakeup when we were in Rome so the early start is not new for us. And even though a shorter layover is doable, with a family of four, the possibility of a late takeoff, maybe needing to check bags if the flight is full, and a later boarding group, I would rather wake up early and have a longer layover. Each his own.
