We are planning to do a countryside drive from sienna up towards Pisa So that we are close to the airport the next day for an early departure.
Does anyone have any suggestions on the route we should take from Sienna trying to avoid the main roads? If possible?
I’m looking at Bagni Di Pisa thermal baths hotel, it’s expensive for the nightI thought it might be a treat for the last night. Also looking at cheaper accommodation close by.
Open to any suggestions and appreciate them all. Thank you.!!

There are dozens of places to stay north of the Pisa Airport. I go to Google Maps, put in Pisa Airport and click on Hotels at the top. Icons with prices pop up everywhere.

I suggest driving from Siena to Volterra to Cecina on SS68 to the A12/E80 autostrada north to Pisa. You'll travel through pretty Tuscan countryside with nice sea views after Volterra. Hopefully you can stop for an hour to see the historic center of Volterra. Do follow @miuccia's advice and stay in Pisa itself. From the airport car rental drop-off there's a quick, free bus to the terminal area where you can catch a taxi or use the People Mover train to the Pisa Centrale train station right on the edge of the city center.

When you say early flight, how early?
There is a train station 1/4 mile from Bagni di Pisa hotel, S. Giuliano Terme, that can get you to the airport in about 30 minutes after a change to the people mover at Pisa Centrale.
