early flight from FCO

Hi travelers- I'm staying at an AirBnb about 10 minutes from the Via Bonelli metro stop. While this stop is on the way to FCO, my flight leaves at 7:15 am and the metro doesn't start until 5 am. That doesn't give me much time and I get super anxious about cutting things too short. Any suggestions for other ways to get to the airport for this budget traveler or will I have to suck it up and get a taxi? Also, it's the last Sunday of the month which is when I hear Daylight savings happens, which is adding to my anxiety... Thanks in advance!

You may have to get the taxi. Since it will be a domestic flight, you should be at the airport no later than 6am, 5.45 would be better. At that time of day, the lines for security and check in will be short.

I'm not sure of which via Bonelli or via Bonelli metro station you are talking about.
Bonelli is a common last name in Italy, so there are 5 streets in Rome called via Bonelli. You need to specify the entire street name. These are the 5 options:
1. Via Gianluigi Bonelli
2. Via Giovanni Bonelli
3. Via Giorgio Bonelli
4. Via Michele Bonelli
5. Via Villa Bonelli

None of the above has a metro station named after it, however there is a Villa Bonelli train station (not the metro however) on the rail line going to FCO, therefore I presume (and hope) that you are talking about that one (no. 5 above).

If that is the case, the first train, the Regionale 21996 to FCO stops at the Villa Bonelli station at 05:25 and arrives at the FCO station at 5:48.

You can therefore be at the check-in counter by 6:00 am. In my book that would be sufficient to make it on time. However Fiumicino being Fiumicino, it will probably make you feel anxious because at times lines at the security checkpoints can be slow. Nevertheless I think it's entirely doable.

What is your peace of mind worth? Take a taxi....better safe than sorry, and you'll know you'll get to the airport when you need to be there. The extra 20E-30E you spend is totally worth it.

The cost of a taxi from the city of Rome to FCO is fixed at 48 Euros. I would spend the money on a taxi and eliminate the stress of worrying on whether you will get to the airport in time or not.
