Early entry tickets to Vatican museum/ Sistine Chapel

Looking at Vatican Museum website and don't see early entrance tickets for museum. Do they sell them or only buy ahead online tickets? Same for St. Peter's Basilica tickets.

If they do sell them, I did not realize this when we went. We wound up paying for a Walks of Italy tour that got us in early to the Sistine Chapel/Vatican Museum, and after that we went to St. Peter's (no longer "early", but it's so huge that the crowds were OK). We took several Walks of Italy tours on that trip; expensive, but really good for getting a good look at the Sistine Chapel, Michelangelo's David, etc.

Hi Beth,

Is this the website you visited? https://biglietteriamusei.vatican.va/musei/tickets/do?action=gototipovisitapertag&tag=museiebasilicavgarteefedegruppi&weblang=EN Maybe the dates you are looking for have not been uploaded yet?

Aside from the actual Vatican website, there are tour companies that have tours - more money, but many travelers have been satisfied and enjoyed the tours.

If interested, check out each. Most have similar itineraries, amount of people, pricing. Some have the early entrance. Look for discounts on their sites or if calling, inquire about discounts.

Keep in mind the time of year you will be traveling. Of course, high season will have abundant crowds, long lines in some cases.

Strict dress codes are enforced especially for The Vatican and St. Peter's & most Churches.

St. Peter's Basilica has no entry fee if you visit it on its own. Although, it is "included" in the ticket for The Vatican Museums.

Some people prefer to visit only St. Peter's. You go through the security line. No very large bags allowed - they will need to be checked. Bags about 14"-15" were accepted. There is a free check room at the bottom of the stairs of the Basilica. There are also restrooms down that hallway.
