My mom and I are travelling to Italy this summer. It is my second trip and her first. I spent two months living in Pompei two years ago so I am familiar with Naples to a degree. We are venturing to Sicily and our way back north we are taking a night train that gets in at 4 am. Does any one have ideas of safe places we could or things we could do until museums open up? We will also have luggage if there are suggests about were we could store it that would be great too.
4am in the Naples train station!?I see what you mean by early arrival. I hope someone out there has some ideas about what would be open at 4am?. Can you change the 4am arrival time, you probably won't sleep much on that train anyway?
The tickets are purchased and it is the only night train out of Sicily that we could get. It leaves Palermo so we are going to try to sleep early.
Hopefully it's the train with no changes? Those train changes in the middle of the night make it hard to sleep. Even the train with no train changes makes 10 stops--those darn stops always wake me up, hopefully your Mom is a really sound sleeper.
The train will have to be 'ferried' from Messina to Calabria - that will surely wake you up and be interesting anyway. I suggest that you go to the hotel and ask the night porter if it can be stored until check-in. And may you use their lobby until breakfast time when it is more sociable outside. Good luck.
