Early April Visit to Monterosso

We are planning to visit our daughter in Florence the first week of April. Cinque Terre/Monterosso is one of the cities our daughter recommends we stay at. Is there a way we can find out what accommodations and restaurants will be open and available for that time?

Linda, Are you able to have a look at the Italy 2012 Guidebook? I'd suggest having a look at the Hotels listed there, and contacting the Hotel directly. Could you provide some indication on what type of Hotel and price range you're interested in? The new town part of Monterosso was largely unaffected by the floods, so you shouldn't have any problems finding accommodations there (subject to availability of course). The last of the evacuated residents has now returned to the old town part, so businesses should be starting to re-open there by April. What type of activities are you planning in Monterosso? Not all of the hiking trails may be open by then, but you could take the local train to Manarola and walk the famous Via dell'Amore. If you need some suggested accommodations, post another note. Happy travels!

Hi Ken, While we don't have the book, Italy 2012 Guidebook, we have been reading Rick Steve's book, Europe Through the Back Door. We enjoyed reading about Cinque Terre and found accommodations listed for Vernazza but not for Monterosso. As far as activities are concerned, we are planning on doing some, hiking, biking, and touristing.
We love water activities as well but I am thinking it will be too cold to do any of that(other than walks on the beach). Regarding accommodations, we have done some checking online and found listings of the various accommodations. Recommendations from others is always encouraged. We feel their experiences make us better travelers. We have watched the video on the floods and have seen the pictures of the incredible effort that has gone into cleaning up the town and making it ready for this years' visitors. We can't wait to see what our daughter describes as 'one of the most beautiful places on earth!'
