Duomo Climb - Line for entry

In re-reading Ricks comments on the Duomo climb, he states that the only way to skip the long line wait times is to buy a Firenze Card.

I registered for a time to climb when I purchased my Duomo tickets online. Does this not get you past the long lines to get into the Duomo?

Do I still have to wait through the line to get to the climb with my reserved time slot?

Things keep changing in this arena, but in this case, I think you've misunderstood. Everyone must have a reservation for Florence's Duomo dome climb, and you have one already. People with Firenze Cards can only make their reservation locally, by which time space may be sold out.

Thanks.

I understand about the reservation. However the book says that you must still wait in the long line to get into the duomo without a Firenze card. Of course the book doesn’t really mention the climb reservation. So this passage may be outdated.

How do I go about entering the duomo with reservation in hand? Do I have to stand in the line that can wrap around the block or is there an entrance just for those with reservations to climb?

I appreciate your help!

The dome (cupola) has a dedicated, exterior entrance on the north side of the church. See the map on this page for location:

Awesome! Thanks!

That’s what I was wondering. I really appreciate it.

Where is the best place to find the tickets for the Duomo climb?

On the cathedral's website. You can't purchase tickets JUST for the dome (tickets include the other buildings in the complex as well) and you have to pick a day/time for your climb that's available but you can (and should, as it's a high-in-demand attraction!) do that on the website when you buy the ticket. If you wait until you get to Florence, all the time slots may be booked up.

When we visited it years ago, we got a tour through the Duomo that included the roof top. We had our tour inside, the guide took us to the top and let us do as we wanted. It was not much more than the cost of buying the tickets, I am not sure if that is still available.

Just a side note... When planning this, check the weather predicted for that day. If its raining, the steps are going to be very, very slippery. The site doesn't have stations to dry out shoes, so water is carried all the way to the top. Boat shoes work the best if it is wet.
