If I take a photo at a tourist sight and then put it on Facebook when back at my vacation apartment (it has Wi-Fi), will I incur roaming charges? I am so in fear of roaming charges that have not picked up my phone during a week in Venice, using a regular camera for photo s. I just realized (duh) that taking photos with my iPhone probably doesn't incur roaming charges and if I am in a Wi-Fi zone I assume I could post the iPhone photos on Facebook with no charges...but would appreciate your ideas.
Photos and wifi are two different animals. Take all the photos you want. However, when posting to a web that is a different issue. As long as you are using wifi - hotel, Starbucks, MdDonalds, etc., - then it is free. It is just when you use a data network - 3G,4g, etc. - that fees become an issue.
Frank is right. Get on the hotel (bar, whatever) wi-fi and post photos, look at facebook, read your email, etc. We do it all of the time!
Just go into your settings and make sure data roaming is OFF and 3G is OFF. WiFi is usually free (like at your apartment); if it's not, you know because you have to give credit card info before you can log in. Good for you for checking, rather than incurring huge charges when you get home!
