Which one wuld be easier, dropping it at Marco Polo airport or at the train staion. Had heard the train stations can be a bit tricky. Thanks
We used the airport for drop-off last October. It was raining when we arrived, but we were able to leave our luggage at the water taxi pier (one of our passengers stayed with it), drive to the Hertz rental office, drop off, walk back to water taxis (10 minutes), and board one of the water taxis for the trip to our Venice hotel. We had been driving in from Umbria and found the highway signs to the airport and the rental offices to be clear and easy to follow. By the way, Hertz would only allow us to drop off at Marco Polo.
Thank you so much this info helps.
Which train station are you talking about? The Venice Mestre station on the mainland would be a very easy drop off. The Venice Santa Lucia station is on the island and you'd actually be dropping off your car at Piazzale Roma.
Mestre location but I found out that you have to pay an
additional charge to drop it off there. To drop off at the airport does not have an additional charge-so the airport it is! Thanks
Had heard the train stations can be a bit tricky That's news to me. I'd like to learn though. Who said it? What did they say would be "tricky"?
I "think" either in one of Rick Steves books or on tripavisor.com.
