Dropping rental car after Pompeii, then train to Rome

Hello,
Can someone help with best advice on the following.... We will be visiting Herculaneum, Pompeii and a drive (no hike) up to Vesuvius (not necessarily in that order), all in one day (I know it is a "busy" day). We want to end the day taking the train to Rome. Any thoughts/suggestions for where to drop the rental car, which works with the best way to get the train into Rome? 2 adults, minimal luggage. Thanks for your help.

You can leave it at the Napoli Central station. However I would drive it to Rome and not bother with the train.. Actually you may not even need a car at all depending on where you are before going to that area. Europe offers the option of using public transport practically everywhere.

Thank you Roberto.
I wasn't even thinking of that because I was worried about driving in/near Rome, but perhaps wouldn't be bad. We can't drop at the rail station because it is Nov. 1st and they are closed Tuesdays then. We actually will have the car for 10 days - going from La Spezia, Tuscany area's, SE to Bari area, then over to Pompeii area. Looking at the map, I think trying a drop-off point of the Campino (?) airport might be best to keep us out of the city itself.

There are many rental locations in Rome but on a holiday the only ones open are at the airports and at the Roma Termini station (but check this last one for sure). If Termini locations are also closed them Ciampino airport is best. On a holiday city traffic is not too bad.
