We are dropping our rental car off in Florence. For now we dropping off at the airport. Are they any closer areas in Florence to drop off that aren't to hectic to find?

Unless you know what a ZTL is and unless you do not wish a $150 ticket, dropping your car off at the airport is excellent. There is frequent bus service from the airport to the main train station.

my family and I dropped off our rental car in florence at a place in town but would definitely not recommend it. Drivers are crazy! and it took an hour to find the place and get there after we got into Florence-then had to take a taxi anyway to our hotel. Just drop off at airport and get a shuttle or taxi into town.

If you have two people and don't need to go to the train station, then cab fare is competitive with buying bus tickets for two people. The last time I was there taxis charged a flat-rate from the airport to the historic center: 20Euro plus 1Euro per bag. Worth it.
You can interpret that to mean I concur with previous responses-- it's best to go to the airport and take the shuttle or cab. And read "Ten tickets from Florence in one day worth $1000" in the Transportation section of the Helpline.

OMG! Return at the airport!! Don't return it in the city, you will have to pass through a ZTL and it will get you a $125 ticket! Take a taxi from the airport. It's not very far at all.

We dropped a car at the airport on Friday. It was easy as the airport is REALLY small and the rental car drop off place was right next door. Much easier than trying to rent drive into town to drop off.
