Drop box in La Spezia

I want a car hire company that has a drop box for keys on Sundays in La Spezia, or better still is open on Sundays. My travel agent says it is not possible but I have seen passing comments that indicate it can be done. Does anyone know for sure. We will pick up the car in Rome.

While I understand that it can be unavoidable to have to drop off after hours or on a closed day, my thoughts still go to the problems with such a scenario. It happens regularly that people are charged for rental car damages/repairs that can't be verified when their cars are dropped off without on-the-spot inspections by rental office employeees. Why risk it? Can you maybe detour and make the drop-off at the Pisa airport?

I've dropped off after hours in Italy several times with no problems. In the four years I've been on this site, I can't recall complaints of damage claims from after-hours drop-offs. I can't prove that there have been none, but certainly not a common complaint. I park the car in the garage. I do take the precaution of photographing the car from every side. But I always rent through Autoeurope which cares about the reputation of the agencies it uses. An agency that makes a practice of inventing damage charges will get a reputation on travel boards very quickly.

Thanks for your replies. I tried autoeurope and rang them but they definitely would not accept a key drop on Sundays in La Spezia. Couldn't find any other company who would, so I ended up with the Pisa airport drop off with Europcar and a train trip from there to La Spezia. Bit of a pain but I can still change it all if I find a better solution. Thanks
