Driving trip

We have decided to extend our trip by one week for May 2023
After spending two weeks touring Tuscany as far down as Umbria in a car, I am
unsure how to spend the 3rd week
We are seniors whose walking is somewhat limited, but love scenic drives and visiting pretty towns/villages. The drive along Lake Garuda looks wonderful?
My dilemma.. should we continue South from Umbria or make our way back north and visit the Dolomites?
We love scenery/ mountains etc. also would we get by in the small villages in the Dolomites unable to speak Italian
Thank you in advance for your suggestions

You could easily combine the Dolomites and Lake Garda in a week. Especially if you fly out of Milan.

The highlight of our 2-week June trip to Italy was 4 nights in Riva del Garda with a day trip to the Alpi di Siusi via Ortisei (there is a gondola that takes you up into the alpine meadow). The northern end of the lake is spectacularly beautiful, almost fjordlike with the mountains seemingly rising up right out of the water. We liked Riva a lot but others rave about Limone and Malcesine (we rode the gondola to the top of Monte Baldo there - recommend doing that). And while we only had time for a day trip to the Dolomites I would love to go back for a longer time. Ortisei is a fairly touristy town and we had no problems speaking English, although I did get to practice some of my rusty German - that is spoken more widely than Italian in the villages in the Dolomites, do you speak that?

No, unfortunately we do not speak German. But I guess we would get by
Thank you so much for your reply. I will do some more research. Your trip sounded lovely
