We will be visiting the Tuscan area in early November and will have a car to explore. We are staying a week in Panzano and I hope to go to Assisi. How long of a drive would that be and could there be a chance we can include other villages on the same day, ie. Montepulciano, Pienza or Montalcino? Many thanks~
Viamichelin is a great resource for route planning (it gives you toll info as well as scenic routes). Regular ol' Google Maps works too for a quick search--and at 2+ hours each way, I would consider this too far for a day trip. But "mileage varies" as they say!
Google Maps is a good resource for "How far from X to Y?" It will tell you that best case scenario is 2 hrs 12 minutes from Panzano to Assisi if you don't stop anywhere along the route. Montepulciano, Pienza and Montalcino deserve their own (separate) day.
Allow me to encourage you to spend at least one night in Assisi, if you're set on going there. Alternatively, put closer places on your itinerary, such as Arezzo.
Thank you both!
