Driving Routes in Chianti

My wife and I will be going to Italy in September. We will be seeing Florence, Sienna, San Gimignano, Lucca and Pisa. We have ane extra day reserved for Driving around Chianti. Does anyone have a good suggested driving routes to see some of the smaller towns and landscape sites? By the way, my wife is not a big fan of wine.

Thanks,
Andrew

Maybe she will be after taking the drive in Tuscany!

Anyway, one good route is SR 222 north from Siena towards Florence. It's a beautiful drive on its own, winding through hills and vineyards. There are several small towns to stop in to taste wine and eat - Castellina, Panzano, Greve, Strada. This part of Italy uses tasting rooms to market local wine more than opening up the actual wineries - although you can visit some wineries. They also sell locally produced products such as olive oil, cheese, etc. If you're liking the villages, you can take a side route to Radda as well.
