We will be picking up a car in Verona and heading to Ortisei for 4 nights. Does anyone have recommendations for a driving route that might take us along part of Lake Garda before heading up towards to mountains? I see that the A22 is a straight shot going north, but a moderately leisurely route by the lake would be nice. This would be in about 3 weeks.

If you can spare couple extra hours or three, don't see why not. You could stop at Malcesine and take the cable car to Monte Baldo if the weather is nice.
