Driving RESTRICTIONS in the Amalfi Coast?

Hey everyone, I've already researched whether (or not) to drive my own car, or to take a train, ferry, or taxi through the Amalfi coast (SS163). I've chosen to drive my own rental car. - My question pertains to the driving restrictions there (alternate license plate days, one-way traffic restrictions, restricted zones, etc.). I can't find any official guide to these potential restrictions. We will be there for only 3 days (September 9-11th, 2013). Can anyone give their own experiences, or recommend a legitimate source? Thanks!!

The only restrictions apply to big tourist buses, campers and big trucks on certain days during tourist season. The only problem with driving on the Amalfi coast is the exorbitant price of parking, and of course, the congestion during peak season, particularly on weekends. Maybe it's not that bad in September. But on Aundays with nice weather, traffic will likely be heavy and parking lots full.

I have stayed in Positano for two weeks and did not have a car. Parking is awful. Some restaurants will even pick you up from you hotel because they realize the problem getting around. You really don't need one. The public transport is great, boat from town to town or take a bus or train to towns inland (Naples, etc ).

There are no widespread restriction on cars, other than pedestrian zones on the very central areas of some villages or some minor streets. No such thing as alternate license plate days. Remember you can travel through some secondary routes between most cities as well. They might be an excellent way to explore far less traveled areas on the peninsula. You don't need to stick only to the major route. The hassle might be parking. Be sure to a hotel that has parking (on-site or as a reserved place elsewhere, it will likely be paid).

Thanks all! I've got my car, and my hotel, and my arrangements for parking. All is set, except for the sunshine! :)
