Driving or taking the train from Rome to Pompeii to Salerno. Which is easier?

I am going from Rome to Salerno, but I want to stop in Pompeii first. Should I drive or take the train? I just want the easiest and least stressful way.

The train is easier and just about anything is less stressful than driving in Italy :-). If you are planning to have a car while you're in Salerno, how about taking the fast train from Rome (doesn't stop in Pompeii), then renting the car in Salerno. Driving from Salerno to Pompeii is pretty fast and simple on the A3 (toll road - 2 euros).
