Driving Monte Carlo to Venice in one day

Hi can anyone suggest the best way to drive between Monte Carlo and Venice- we would leave early in morning and want to be in Venice that day, but as first timers to Italy not sure what is the best way
We will have come previously from touring west coast of Italy. Suggestions?

Its 5.5 to 6 hours of not the most pleasant drive in the world. When we do it we stay overnight in Piacenza, at the West Hotel. From Monte Carlo take the Autoroute towards Italy, that short stretch is quite expensive, then towards Genova as it continues east, probably where you just came from. The venetian blind effect (tunnel, light, tunnel, light) is all along the Italian coast, then turn north before Genova, then east towards Piacenza, up to Brescia, hang a right on the main Milano Venezia Trieste Austostrada, straight on to Mestre (I park there) or you can go over the causeway into Trochetto and Piazzalle Roma. As I said, by far not the most scenic run in Italy.

Nigel Thanks so much for your advice! Sounds like it won't be a lot of fun but is a necessary evil to get across to Venice.
If there are any stops on the way you suggest would appreciate the tips

Hello again No, I'd just get on with it and get there. You could stop in any of Piacenza Manova Brescia Verona Vicenza
Padova but its very easy to do Verona, Vicenza, Padova by train from Venice.
