In Oct 2008 we will start our Italy trip - 28 days - in the North . Btcause My family came from Varese near Como I want to visit the area. Is driving in this area easy enough. Varese can be reached by public transport but I wanr to see the neighbouring Lozza area, more difficult without a car. Your thoughts please. Ciao
We are flying into Zurich and taking the train down to Como. NOt sure where We will be in lakes area for 3 nights but am thinking of Cernobbia as it will be closer to Varese. This is our first time in Italy but we (my husband) have driven on the right side of the road in Canada - not very comfortably but we are still alive! WE do not intend to drive in major cities but will while in Tuscany.
Thanks Kent. GPS is a good idea. Are the roads in Tuscany VERY busy in October?
Im 69 years old and have driven in Europe including Italy many times and I dont know what the big deal about driving is.If you stay out of the big cities(park and take bus or train) it isnt much different then driving in the USA.A GPS is very helpful.I got one for my last two trips and it makes it much easier.
