Driving in Dolomites - Suggest routes for newbie?

Hi - I hope I am not over-posting in this realm but need some help with a specific part of my trip, from those familiar with the Dolomites by car.. Going from Ortisei --> Toblach --> Cortina --> Tolmezzo --> Udine

I'm sure I get get practical driving advice from Rome2Rio (for example from Cortina to Toblach and back, there is a well-used route suggested) but when I read about this in forums, it is not recommended as the most scenic route.

Am I correct that Canazei to Cortina along the path mentioned here http://www.thegreatdolomiteroad.co.uk/styled-39/index.html
is the scenic and recommended one? (I assume Toblach is not really part of the great scenic route, but I may make an excursion up there and back.)
I appreciate any advice.

From Ortisei go up toward Passo Sella, then turn left toward Passo Pordoi. Then you could go to Cortina via Falzarego, unless you want to travel longer and go down via Selva Di Cadore.

The most scenic drives are the four passes in a circuit (Sella, Pordoi, Campolongo, Gardena passes) and the Falzarego. The shortest itinerary from Ortisei to Cortina should be through Sella, Pordoi and Falzarego passes that are the best three so it would be an obvious choice. All three passes have cable cars starting from the top of the pass going to the top of mountains. The Lagazuoi cable car starting from Falzarego pass is particularly scenic.

There is no shortage of scenic itineraries. Tre cime from Misurina (toll road, dead end), passo Fedaia, Braies lake (dead end) are the first coming to my mind.

Another vote for a route that goes over Passo Falzarego and stopping to do the Lagazuoi cable car. The sign at the cable will explain (in Italian) the Battaglia dei Galleria. This was a static front line during WW I between Austria and Italy, with both side trying to tunnel under the other's positions.
If you want to hit Toblach/Dobbiaco, you can drive north from Cortina and get a look at the Tre Cima, double back through Misurina and then on to Udine via the SR48, SS52, and A23.
