Driving from Venice to La Villa in the Dolomites

I am looking on Google maps to determine which route to take to La Villa. We will be staying in Venice for 3 days, picking up a car and driving to La Villa in the Dolomites for several days. From there we will be going to Lake Garda for a couple of days and to Verona to fly to Sicily. There seems to be several routes. One I believe goes through Cortina and the other is west. Is one route better or more scenic than the other. It seems like the route through Cortina is shorter.

Thank You

Make a brief stop at the cable car station at the top of Paso Falzarego. A small sign on the building explains (in Italian of course) that this was the site of the Battle of the Tunnels during WWI, when this was the front line between Austria and Italy.
