Driving from Rome to Pisa - stop in Orbetello?

It looks like it might be a nice place to stop and take a quick dip in the ocean. Has anyone been there?
Is it worth it?

Orbetello is a peninsula inside a lagoon (see map here) so not ideal for swimming. However the Mt. Argentario Peninsula (a national park), which used to be an island when Earth temperatures were warmer and sea levels higher, has great beaches (although mostly small coves and cliffs).
Check the beaches in the website below

Or also this website about Maremma, the entire area of southern Tuscany part of the province of Grosseto of which Orbetello and surroundings are part.

Feniglia, the parallel spit to Orbetello on the south side, has nice sandy beaches (facing away from the lagoon). There were ample parking lots, where we rented bikes, rode along a pine wooded path, then walked out onto the beach.
The promontory would add a bit of time since its roads are windy, but it's quite a stunning drive.
Do try to grab a gelato in Orbetello!
