Driving from Rome station to Chianti

We are renting a car today from the Rome Termini station to Chianti and will have 4 nights to explore. Can anyone tell me if they will have maps to buy when we get our car (Auto Europe) and if not where we can get a detailed Tuscany map? Didn't get it in advance! Also any tips on getting out of Rome safely are welcome! At least Sunday should mean lighter traffic I hope.

No advice on your question, except to change your title! Drinking and driving are always a bad idea, whether in Italy or the US.

In the back left corner of Termini, under the cafeteria is a large bookstore - memory defeats me as to name - which has a large travel section and will have maps that meet your needs. Just in front of the ends of the tracks are several Tabachi who also have lots and lots of maps. Most are Rome oriented, I doubt that they would do Tuscany. Once you get onto the A1 you can stop at a rest area which will have yummy food at the Autogrill, good coffee, and all the maps you would need. Of course you also have your GPS. Just put in the address of your destination (you did practice at home, right?) and off you go. The GRA and the A1 are really pretty easy.

You can always buy a Michelin, or similar, map at a gas station. Open it up to see how detailed you need it to be. Take a quick look at the traffic signs. Have fun driving the red roads and exploring Tuscany.

Thank you all! We are safely and happily in Chianti. Got a map at the A1 rest stop. Harold, when I read your reply and saw that my auto spell correct made the word "driving" into "drinking" I almost fell over laughing! We are surley enjoying wine on our trip but that was not what I meant to type! 5:00 AM and sleepless in Rome and worrying about the rental car led me to careless typos! Too funny!
Hope to get to Volterra and San Gimignano in the next few days so any other words of wisdom are welcome.
