Driving from Provence to Cinque Terre

We are driving from provence (st Remy) to Cinque Terre (monterosso)in May 2010.Unfortunatly,the Monacco Gran Prix wil be beginning.We had to scratch our stay in the area,due to crowds,and heavy traffic.Can anyone tell me,if we leave early in the morning the friday of that weekend,driving on A8 the autostrada thru the french riviera,will we get through without encountering heavy traffic? Honest Answer? NO! The Grand Prix is a big deal to Europeans so that would be the last weekend I'd want to be trying to go by The French Riviera - time of day doesn't really mean a thing that weekend!
