Greetings! we will have a car on our trip scheduled for May 2020 (have Hotel w parking) and will be driving from Monterosso to Milan.
Any thoughts or suggestions on the route, travel time or "watch outs" are welcome. Thanks, FK

As far as routes, follow the lake to Genoa and plan a few hours there to check out the sites. There are also a wealth of great sites for lunch. Then, depending on your mood and time of day, you could just blast up the A7 - 2 or so hours of driving. There are less direct routes but I don't know of any great reason to take them.

Expect a fair number of tunnels along the route, and then more traffic the closer you get to Milan.
