My husband and I will be staying in Les Houches for a week and want to take a day trip to Milan. What is the best way to get there? We will have a car and don't mind making the drive, but where is the easiest (and cheapest) place to park, with a direct metro or bus line to the Milan Cathedral?

There is a large parking garage at Bisceglie station on the west side of Milan with a Metro Red Line station right there. Parkopedia lists rates as 2.10 for 16 hours. Red Line has direct trains to Duomo (Cathedral).
Its about a mile off the A-50 (head East from the exit) on via Ferruccio Parri.
Be aware that the toll on the Mont Blanc Tunnel is 52.90 for a 24 hour return trip.

We did what the other post recommended and it was great. When we went there were Africans that were selling the service of putting more money in the machine for your car if it needed it for small. It seemed to be a little like extortion because I was afraid of what might happen to the car if I didn't use their 'service'. So I did it and it was fine.
