Hey All,
My wife and I will be driving from Florence to Monteriggioni taking highway SR222 (Chaintigiana Road). We are going to have some time to explore this highway before we check-in to our farmhouse. I was hoping to get some advice on where we can stop for lunch? something scenic, good food, maybe a winery where my wife can do some tasting. we will be travelling in early May. I googled a few places and there are so many wineries and places to eat. Thanks!!
You want a real experience? Have lunch with Dario Cecchini in Panzano. He has a butcher shop there and does lunches that are world renown. Check them out on his website (below). You will always remember it.

Gordon, funny you say that. I was just looking that up. Will def be hitting that up. thanks!
You will enjoy driving the historic SR222 which connects Siena and Florence. There are many charming towns along this route.
I highly recommend that you stop in Panzano. You may have heard of the local butcher Dario Cecchini who has several restaurants in town in addition to bis butcher shop. He has been on all the US food TV shows. His restaurants, obviously, are meat centered which didn’t interest us. However, our kids went and thought it was a hoot, all the grandkids included. It is fun to at least stop by the butcher shop.
The perfect spot for lunch is Enoteca Baldi in the Panzano town square. We have eaten there several times, wonderful food.
Owner/Chef Mimo Baldi came to our rental villa and prepared a special celebration meal for us and our family, absolutly delicious! We all remember exactly what he prepared as it was so special. Highly recommended! They have tables outside in the square too.
