Last time in Italy I rented a Renault Clio and I loved it. Small car but it did well in Toscana.
I am planning to be in the Dolomites this summer and wonder if that size car will drive well in the mountains.

I can't think why it wouldn't. There are some pretty narrow roads there. We had a minivan, which was small by American standards, but I would have been ok with a much smaller car, if we hadn't had four kids with us.

It would be a blast to take a little car. We took a Fiat Panda 4x4 to the Alps. Plus I swear 99% of Italians over the age of 95 drive Fiats, even in the mountains.
