We have 4 adults arriving at Venice Marco Polo airport, needing to get to Bolzano enroute to the Dolomites. We won't have enough time to catch the nonstop train, so thinking a driver would be more efficient. Does anyone have any suggestions for hiring a van/driver to take us up to Bolzano? We don't need a car, as we'll be on a hiking tour starting in Bolzano - just need transport service.
Thanks for any help.
Do you plan to rent a car once in Bolzano? Bolzano is not on the Dolomites. It's a city near the Dolomites at the bottom of a valley. If you do, which I strongly suggest, then you should rent in Venice and drive yourself. If you do not intend to rent a car, then you should base yourselves in Ortisei, in the Val Gardena. At least you would be actually on the Dolomites.
Thanks for reply - I just updated my question! Don't need a car, just looking for a car service.
I think you could just Google for car service/limo service/taxi service in Venice and ask about transport to Bolzano. It's gonna cost.....
The train is 4+ hours and reasonably priced. The private car is 2.5 hours at a high cost. Pardon me for asking, but why don't you have time?
The poster could be saying their flight arrives too late to catch the one Eurocity train from Venice Mestre to Bolzano that doesn't require a change in Verona. If there's a concern about a connection, Verona is a fairly small station where non-adjacent tracks are connected by an underground passageway. Making a change is easy and only takes a few minutes. Although the chauffeured vehicle option might be more efficient, it could be quite pricy.
