Can anyone suggest a driver that would pick us up at our hotel in Salerno, drive us to Positano for a few hrs, then take up to our hotel in Amalfi? This would be approximately April 23rd. Backtracking, I know and I'd much prefer the ferry, but my husband wants to experience the drive without doing the driving.

We were there last month and used a driver (recommended by our hotel) from Amalfi to Sorrento -180 euros-no stops
In your case I would still take ferry from Salerno to Amalfi-the views along AC on that route are wonderful
Use a driver from Amalfi to Sorrento instead (with stop in Positano if you need)
That would be less expensive overall than the backtrack you are proposing
