Drive trip through Austria, Slovenia and Croatia

We have been to Europe 8 times and have driven though the Alps in Austria, France, Italy, Switzerland. In the past we have gone the route of Salzburg, Kitzbuhel, Grossglockner, Linz, Cortina and Venice. We will have July 19 to August 2. We fly in and out of Munich July 16 and August 3. We will be staying near Passau for a couple of days for a wedding then on the road on July 20. What would be the next best route south to Croatia. Planned on going through Salzkammergut. Which route is better through Bad Gastein or Katschberg then Bled , Ljubljana, Trieste, Pula.

Recently Slovenia began to charge for a 6 month toll sticker to drive on the highways. It is 35 euro. It works like Switzerland, so it's a one time fee. With that in mind -I will always, always recomend Slovenia. The national tourism website ( www.slovenia.info) is excellent and suggests themed drives throughout the country. We've been to Slovenia twice in the past year. The people are very welcoming and greatful for your business. It really is a country that is fun to go off the beaten path. Oh and the health resorts are fun if you're looking for some time in thermal pools and just enjoying some relaxation.
