Drive time from Termini area to FCO

Can anyone tell me how long it would take to drive from the area around Termini to FCO? I have a flight to early on a Saturday morning to take the train, I was wondering how much time I should leave to get from point A to point B.

I'm sure this question is answered out here already (probably more than a few times), but I couldn't find an answer. Thanks to anyone who decides to respond to a question that has probably been answered many times before.

We just did this...if you are going early before traffic picks up, it will take about a half hour (or 20 minutes if your driver was like ours). During busy times we were told to allow an hour.

We went at a busy time around 9 AM in June and it took us all of 45 minutes via a car.

30 minutes or so; 20 for some drivers. There should not be much traffic early on a Sat.

I would not trust Shane's time. The train takes about 30 minutes so a car might be faster but only under ideal conditions. Taxi runs closer to 45 mins during the day. Sound like you have car that needs to be checked-in. Check to make sure the drop off is open.

What time is your flight? The first train from Termini arrives at FCO @ about 0620.

Thanks for the replies! I'll plan to leave 30-45 minutes for the drive. Hopefully there won't be to much traffic at 5am on a Saturday.

Bridgie,

5 AM is too early to get up!!! But I've had to take friends to the airport, so I feel your pain. Even at 5 AM, it does depend on where you are starting from.

When we lived on the Cassia (NW Rome), we could jump on the GRA and be at the airport in about 20 minutes. But now we live down next to the Vatican, so we have to allow about 25 minutes! The Vatican is still on the WEST side of the river... so if you're really downtown (EAST of the RIVER), better allow 25-30 minutes...

If you're taking a taxi - Great; Call the service (or have your hotel do it) the day before. Taxis usually DRIVE FAST! It's kinda of the like the flight before the flight!!!! From Termini they usually go out C. Colombo which means traffic lights! But at 5 AM, they probably won't stop anyway!

If you're "driving," and if you're renting, better allot time for dropping off your car!

Good luck in your trip... 5 AM is not a bad time to drive/ride... if you get into rush hour here, often the train is a better alternative!

Ciao,
Ron

Thanks Ron! I don't know what I was thinking booking such an early flight.
