Has anyone done this drive? We're assuming it's beautiful. Would make one night stop on way (probably around Lugano). Any tips?

Margaret: It's a route that will show you different scenery than the one you're coming down from Munich to Verona to Venice. You'll want to go around Milan, probably on the west as you head toward Lake Como. One specific warning: if you visit Lake Como, avoid driving the route between Menaggio and Lugano, one of the more hazardous, difficult drives I've seen in Italy.
