looking for ideas on where to stop on our morning drive in December from Malpensa to Portofino,
also do you think I will be able to park in Portofino for a few hours or should I go to Santa Margherita and bus to Portofino ?

No idea about parking in Portofino.
More or less along the way from the airport, you could stop at the Certosa di Pavia, it is really beautiful. My only reservation is that I do not know how safe parking is over there.
